You will travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle to Ismailia, a city located approximately two and a half hours from Cairo.
Ismailia, named after Khedive Ismail, the ruler of Egypt during the opening of the Suez Canal, is home to one of the most significant achievements in modern Egyptian history—the Suez Canal.
Upon arrival in Ismailia, you will visit the Suez Canal, a marvel of engineering that connects the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea. From the military club, you’ll enjoy a hot drink while watching ships navigate the canal. The Suez Canal stretches 190 kilometers, linking Port Said on the Mediterranean to the Suez Governorate at the Red Sea, and significantly reduces the distance between Europe and the Far East by about 60,000 kilometers.
If permission is granted, you will have the unique opportunity to cross the canal by boat, heading towards Sinai. Here, you will visit Tabbat al Shagara, a key military site during the 1973 war between Egypt and Israel.
